George Michael dies aged 53

It seems almost an inevitable part of the cruel 2016 narrative that one of the most popular performs of Christmas music, including the iconic “Last Christmas”, would die on December 25. Today brings the sad news that George Michael, has “died peacefully in his home”, according to a statement by his publicist.

Official: Sam Smith performs SPECTRE theme song “Writing’s on the Wall”

Rumors have been circulating for months (even years) but it has now been confirmed that Sam Smith (“Stay with Me,” ” “I’m Not the Only One”) will perform the theme song to the 24th James Bond film, SPECTRE. The SPECTRE theme song, titled “Writing’s on the Wall,” will be available through Capitol Records to purchase and stream on September 25.

James Horner scored THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN before tragic death

Earlier this month, a plane crash took the life of composer James Horner, responsible for scoring films such as Titanic, Aliens, Apollo 13 and Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan, among many others. There’s some interesting news today, however, regarding what appears to be Horner’s very last score as director Antoine Fuqua revealed that, in addition to scoring his latest, Southpaw, Horner secretly composed a score for Fuqua’s upcoming remake of The Magnificent Seven.

Ennio Morricone to score THE HATEFUL EIGHT!

Iconic film composer Ennio Morricone will be doing an original score for Quentin Tarantino’s new movie The Hateful 8, Tarantino announced today during the film’s panel at Comic-Con. It will be the first Western score for the prolific Morricone in 40 years and reunites the two after some harsh words were apparently smoothed over after their collaboration on Django Unchained.
