Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow have delayed Andy and Lana Wachowski’s Jupiter Ascending by seven months. Originally slated to hit the big screen on July 18, the sci-fi actioner will now see release on February 6, 2015.
In the July 18 release, Jupiter Jones (Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.
Are the Wachowskis working on a new “Matrix” trilogy? That’s the rumor coming from Latino Review, who say that the Jupiter Ascending filmmakers are returning to the franchise which brought in $1.632 billion for Warner Bros. Pictures.
Warner Bros. has set Jupiter Ascending, the new science fiction film from Andy and Lana Wachowski (The Matrix, Cloud Atlas) for a July 25, 2014 release. They’ve also moved Peter Segal’s boxing comedy Grudge Match from November 15, 2013 to January 10, 2014.
While Hollywood experienced a weak weekend at the box office in North America, the 23rd James Bond adventure Skyfall took over international theaters and earned an impressive $77.7 million from 25 markets, opening in first place in each market. In the UK alone, the Sam Mendes-directed film opened to $32.4 million, which is the second-biggest opening weekend ever there, trailing only Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.
Warner Bros. Pictures has debuted the new trailer for Tom Tykwer and Andy and Lana Wachowski’s Cloud Atlas, opening in theaters on October 26.
