At long last, after a variety of teases, the teaser trailer for Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman sequel has debuted. Cut to Frank Sinatra’s “My Way”, it’s a fun, fast look at one of our most-anticipated films of the year, arriving in September.
20th Century Fox have updated the release dates of several upcoming projects, moving Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant forward to May 2017, dating James Cameron’s Avatar 2 and- frustratingly- pushing Matthew Vaughn’s Kingsman sequel back from June to October.
After a tease that Colin Firth’s Harry Hart will return, the announcement that Pedro Pascal was joining and the rumour Elton John might be on board, Channing Tatum has revealed that he, too, has joined the Kingsman: The Golden Circle cast!
In the latest issue of Empire, director Matthew Vaughn has revealed that Kingsman 2 will be titled Kingsman: The Golden Circle. Vaughn confirmed that the film will see Taron Egerton’s Eggsy and Mark Strong’s Merlin heading to the United States, where they’ll find an American verison of their own organization, lead by a “swaggering, sharpshooting cowboy.”
Earlier this year, Matthew Vaughn’s adaptation of the Mark Millar/Dave Gibbons graphic novel Kingsman: The Secret Service became a surprise hit for 20th Century Fox, grossing $128 million domestically and another $285 million overseas. It wasn’t long before a sequel was confirmed with Vaughn planning to direct himself, and now we’ve learned that 20th Century Fox has set a June 16, 2017 release date for the spy action-comedy.
The film stars Academy Award winners Colin Firth (The King’s Speech, Love Actually) and Michael Caine (The Dark Knight, The Cider House Rules) alongside Academy Award nominee Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained), Mark Strong (Tinker Tailer Soldier Spy, Sherlock Holmes) and relative newcomers Taron Egerton (Testament of Youth, “The Smoke”), Sofia Boutella (Street Dance 2, Monsters: Dark Continent) and Sophie Cookson (“Moonfleet,” Unknown Heart).
