Box Office: PIXELS and PAPER TOWNS disappoint as ANT-MAN takes first place again

After becoming Marvel Studios’ twelfth movie to open in the #1 spot, Ant-Man (Disney) starring Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lilly and Corey Stoll, retained its position in the top spot with $24.8 million, down 57% from its opening weekend with $106 million grossed in its first ten days. It added another $35.4 million overseas with openings in Germany, Spain and other territories to bring its global total to $226.5 million playing in 61% of international territories.

Source: Jurassic World Hits $500 Million in Weekend Box Office Battle (ComingSoon.net) June’s two box office juggernauts, Universal’s  Jurassic World and Disney•Pixar’s Inside Out, had a heated battle for the top spot this weekend after an unprecedented weekend where both movies grossed more than $90 million. Ultimately, Jurassic World won the weekend as it grossed another $54.2 million (estimated) over the weekend, becoming the fastest movie to reach $500 million domestically over any previous movie including previous record holder Marvel’s The Avengers. Directed by Colin Trevorrow and starring Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Ty Simpkins, Jake Johnson and Nick Robinson, Jurassic World has proven to be the biggest breakout hit of the summer as it also has become the #1 highest-grossing movie of the year, at least domestically, which most thought would be held by Avengers: Age of Ultron, at least for the summer. Internationally, Jurassic World grossed another $82.5 million 66 territories to bring its overseas total to $737.5 million with China claiming $201 million of that amount. Ted 2 red-band trailer hits the web

The plot of the sequel has Ted (Seth MacFarlane) and new wife, Tami-Lynn (Jessica Barth) wanting to conceive a child. The first hurdle they encounter is Ted’s inability to reproduce, leading the couple to seek a sperm donor. That leads to bigger problems, however, when it comes into legal question whether or not Ted truly has the right to raise a child.
