A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS casts Violet and Klaus!

Netflix’s upcoming A Series of Unfortunate Events show has found its Violet and Klaus Baudelaire! Deadline reports that Malina Weissman and Louis Hynes are boarding the series. Weissman is best known for playing young Kara Zor-El on CBS‘ Supergirl. Louis Hynes, on the other hand, is a bit of a mystery as A Series of Unfortunate Events will be his first role. They’ll join the still-in-negotiations Neil Patrick Harris, who is set to star as Count Olaf.

BATMAN V SUPERMAN reveals new poster and Empire covers

Directed by Zack Snyder and written by Chris Terrio from a screenplay by David S. Goyer, Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill in the role of Clark Kent/Superman and Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film also stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, with Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane returning from Man of Steel, joined by Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and Holly Hunter.

Box Office: THE REVENANT hits first place in third wide week

Alejandro González Iñárritu’s The Revenant (20th Century Fox) performed well this weekend and took first place for the first time in its third weekend of wide release. Made for $135 million and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Hardy, Domhnall Gleeson and Will Poulter, the Golden Globe winner added $16 million for a total of $119.2 million after five weeks.

Steven Spielberg’s THE BFG debuts a teaser poster

Directed by three-time Academy Award winner Steven Spielberg (Bridge of Spies, Schindler’s List, Saving Private Ryan) from a screenplay by Melissa Mathison (E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial, The Black Stallion) based on the best-selling novel by Roald Dahl, The BFG stars three-time Tony Award and two-time Olivier Award winner Mark Rylance, newcomer Ruby Barnhill, Penelope Wilton, Jemaine Clement, Rebecca Hall, Rafe Spall and Bill Hader.

STAR WARS EPISODE VIII pushed back to December 2017!

The saga will be continuing a little later than originally planned. Rian Johnson‘s Star Wars: Episode VIII, which was planned for release on May 26, 2017, will instead arrive nearly seven months later. The studio has had Episode VIII delayed until December 15, 2017. Jumping in to claim the original May release date will be Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

SUICIDE SQUAD’s new trailer is here!

Created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru back in 1959, the Suicide Squad team has included countless DC villains among its ranks, including Deadshot, Captain Boomerang, Bane, Killer Frost, Poison Ivy, Count Vertigo, Deathstroke, and Harley Quinn. The CW’s “Arrow” introduced their own version of the team in the most recent season of the series and the recent animated film, Batman: Assault on Arkham, offered another version of the team. Directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad is scheduled for release on August 5, 2016.

Kevin Spacey joins REBEL IN THE RYE opposite Nicholas Hoult

Two-time Academy Award-winner Kevin Spacey (The Usual Suspects, American Beauty) has joined Danny Strong’s drama Rebel in the Rye, which will star Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men: Apocalypse) as legendary author J.D. Salinger. Written and directed by Strong, the screenplay was adapted from the Kenneth Slawenski biography, JD Salinger: A Life. Spacey will portray Whit Burnett, a professor, editor at Story Magazine and mentor to the young Salinger.

Box Office: STAR WARS finally overthrown by RIDE ALONG 2

After reigning the North American box office for four straight weekends, Star Wars: The Force Awakens was beat this weekend by both Ride Along 2 and The Revenant. Ride Along 2, the comedy sequel directed by Tim Story and starring Ice Cube, Kevin Hart, Ken Jeong, Benjamin Bratt, and Olivia Munn, opened in first place with $34 million from 3,175 theaters for the three-day portion of the four-day Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend.
