Academy Award-winning director Sam Mendes (American Beauty, SPECTRE) is, according to a story at Variety, in early talks to helm a live-action James and the Giant Peach movie for Walt Disney Pictures.

Living legend Gene Wilder hasn’t acted onscreen since an Emmy-winning guest role on Will & Grace in 2003, and in 2008 publicly announced his retirement. At the time,Wilder said he’d be willing to return for Mel Brooks, but otherwise it’d probably take something huge to get him to perform again.
As production gets underway in Vancouver, The Walt Disney Studios announced it will co-produce and co-finance Steven Spielberg’s The BFG. This marks the three-time Academy Award winner’s first time directing a Disney-branded movie.
