HOUSE OF CARDS Season 5 to premiere May 30 on Netflix

Netflix, always masters of clever marketing, used Donald Trump’s Inauguration today to announce the premiere date for season five of House of Cards: Tuesday May 30.

Season 5 of the political drama, which will arrive significantly later in the year than previous seasons, will follow Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey)’s reelection campaign against Republican Governor Conway (Joel Kinnaman), with wife Claire (Robin Wright) as his running mate. As thrilling as the show has always been, it’s difficult to imagine how House of Cards can be more compelling than the real-life 2017 political situation.

This will be the first time Netflix have launched a season of content on a Tuesday (the vast majority of new content debuts on a Friday).
