Terrence Malick’s SONG TO SONG gets March release date

The latest ‘Untitled Terrence Malick Project’ has a title and release date, as the auteur’s latest film Song to Song has been set for a March 17 release!

The film has also debuted a first still, featuring lead actors Michael Fassbender, Ryan Gosling and Rooney Mara. The synopsis reads:

In this modern love story set against the Austin, Texas music scene, two entangled couples — struggling songwriters Faye (Rooney Mara) and BV (Ryan Gosling), and music mogul Cook (Michael Fassbender) and the waitress whom he ensnares (Natalie Portman) — chase success through a rock ‘n’ roll landscape of seduction and betrayal.”

Also starring are Christian Bale, Cate Blanchett, Benicio Del Toro, Boyd Holbrook, Val Kilmer, Bérénice Marlohe and Holly Hunter. Patti Smith, Lykke Li, the Black Lips, Iggy Pop, Florence and the Machine and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will also cameo in the film. (Some of these names may not appear in the final cut, however, as Malick has been known to mercilessly remove actors from his finished films).

Song to Song is written and directed by Malick, and produced by Sarah Green, Ken Kao and Nicolas Gonda, with Oscar-winning cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki (Gravity, Birdman, The Revenant) serving as director of photography.
