Ice Cube to play Fagin in modern day OLIVER TWIST

Ice Cube has reportedly been cast as Fagin in Walt Disney Pictures’ upcoming Oliver Twist musical adaptation from Hamilton director Thomas Kail.

Charles Dickens’ Oliver Twist was published in serialised form starting in 1837. It was most famously brought to the screen by David Lean in 1948 and (as musical Oliver!) Carol Reed in 1968.

Wicked producer Marc Platt and The Firm’s Jeff Kwatinetz are attached to produce the new film, which could potentially feature a largely African-American cast (similar to 2014’s Annie remake, starring Jamie Foxx). We’ll keep you posted.
