David Cross’ comedy series “Todd Margaret” is set to return Jan. 7 on IFC after a three-year hiatus. The offbeat comedy stars Cross as a middle-manager for a British energy drink who winds up wrapped up in a terrorist plot that goes increasingly bad until Cross’ character inadvertently blows up the world.
“Since we last saw Todd Margaret, which we thought was actually the last time we’d see him, this show has become a favorite among comedy fans,” said IFC president Jennifer Caserta. “Only David Cross could write his way around destroying the world to resurrect this character and story in a way that’s mind blowing and completely hilarious.”
Cast members for the six-episode season include new regular Jack McBrayer and guest stars Will Arnett, Blake Harrison, Sharon Horgan, Amber Tamblyn and Russ Tamblyn.
The series is produced in the U.K. by Merman, and is based on an RDF Television property. Cross, Shaun Pye and Mark Chappell wrote the scripts. Merman’s Clelia Mountford and Cross are exec producers.
IFC plans a marathon of the first two seasons of “Todd Margaret” — a total of 12 episodes — on Thanksgiving day, Nov. 26.
