James D’Arcy to play Edwin Jarvis on Marvel’s Agent Carter

James D’Arcy (Let’s Be Cops) is the latest name to join the cast of “Marvel’s Agent Carter.” D’Arcy will be a regular on the upcoming series, which is also set to star Enver Gjokaj and Chad Michael Murray.

D’Arcy will play Howard Stark’s butler, Edwin Jarvis! J.A.R.V.I.S., fans of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe will recall, is the name of Tony Stark’s A.I. program, voiced by Paul Bettany. That character, who made his first appearance in 2008’s Iron Man is, in turn, based on the Edwin Jarvis of the comics, who works in the Avengers mansion as a butler. It sounds like D’Arcy’s Jarvis is going to, at some point, leave quite an impression on a young Tony Stark!

“Marvel’s Agent Carter,” starring “Captain America’s” Hayley Atwell, follows the story of Peggy Carter. It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life–Steve Rogers.

“Marvel’s Agent Carter” is written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. Executive producers are Tara Butters, Michele Fazekas, Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely, Chris Dingess, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Alan Fine, Joe Quesada, Stan Lee and Jeph Loeb.
“Marvel’s Agent Carter” is produced by ABC Studios and Marvel Television.
