Sony Pictures Entertainment and Annapurna Pictures announced today that Sausage Party, the new R-rated animated comedy from writers Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Kyle Hunter and Ariel Shaffir, will hit theaters on June 3, 2016. It’s the first film to claim that date, which places it exactly one week before Sony’s own The Amazing Spider-Man 3.
Sausage Party is a raunchy animated movie about one sausage’s quest to discover the truth about his existence. After falling out of a shopping cart, our hero sausage and his new friends embark on a perilous journey through the supermarket to get back to their aisles before the 4th of July sale.
From a story by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and Jonah Hill, Sausage Party is directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan. It features the voices of Rogen and Hill as well as Kristen Wiig, Salma Hayek, Edward Norton, David Krumholtz, Nick Kroll, Michael Cera, James Franco, Craig Robinson, Bill Hader, Anders Holm, Paul Rudd and Danny McBride.
The film is produced by Rogen, Goldberg, Vernon and Megan Ellison with Hill, Hunter, Shaffir and James Weaver executive producing. Nitrogen Studios Canada Inc., in Vancouver, will handle all CG animation, design, production and post-production.
