Cannes Film Festival 2014: Full Winners List

Winter Sleep is a 2014 Turkish film directed by Nuri Bilge Ceylan. The story is set in Anatolia. It won the Palme d’Or at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. It won the FIPRESCI Prize in the same section.

Writing for The Guardian at the film’s Cannes screening, Xan Brooks said that “in fits and starts, this is a stunning picture. At its best, Winter Sleep shows Ceylan to be as psychologically rigorous, in his way, as Ingmar Bergman before him”

Grand Prix: The Wonders

Best Director: Bennett Miller (Foxcatcher)

Jury Prize: Mommy/Goodbye to Language (shared prize)

Best Screenplay: Leviathan

Best Actress: Julianne Moore (Maps to the Stars)

Best Actor: Timothy Spall (Mr Turner)

Camera d’Or: Party Girl
