Nick Grimshaw to replace Chris Moyles at Radio 1

Radio 1 late evening DJ Nick Grimshaw has been named as the surprise choice to takeover the coveted breakfast slot from Chris Moyles.

The appointment of 27-year-old Grimshaw, who is also part of the presenting team for Channel 4’s youth programming strand T4, will be a massive blow for Greg James who has been widely touted as the favourite.

Speculation that James would eventually takeover from Moyles washeightened in February, when the 26-year old took over control of theBBC Radio 1 drive time show from Scott Mills.

With Radio 1 tasked with shifting its audience profile to target a younger demographic, Grimshaw’s experience on the youth programming strands at Channel 4 will undoubtedly have helped his case.
